Europe!

by Stephanie
So it is official. Danny and I are going to Europe in September! We now have all of our plane tickets made.

irst we fly into Amsterdam and stay there for four or five days. Then we fly to Vienna and stay for about three days. Then we take the train from Vienna to Prague and stay there for about four or five days. Then I go back to Amsterdam and fly home the next day so I can get ready to start culinary school, while Danny flies to Italy to stay with some family friends for two weeks.

Yay!!!

Now comes the hard part of trying to pick what to go do in each place. I always want to see everything and I hate having to pick and choose lol.

Air Conditioning!!!

by Stephanie
We are getting a new air conditioning system and furnace installed today!!! Thank God for not melting anymore.

Anyway, sooo....I have this problem...I can never remember what I tell to whom. So in case I somehow got it in my mind that I told you what has happened with regards to school and moving, and I actually didnt *cough*Dana*cough* I am SO sorry and here is a quick catch up:

So I was good at grad school but I freaking hated it. The only part that I actually enjoyed was the teaching part. So long story short, I filled out the paper work to get my Masters in Chemistry, left UO, moved down to CA with Danny, am going to be going to Culinary School until I can start school next fall to get credentialed to teach high school chemistry, general science, and math. Danny is hopefully going to be starting the credentialing program this January.

So that about sums it up. It was a HUGE change and a HUGE decision but I am really glad I made it. So now Danny and I are living in a condo that my parents own on the condition that we manage the remodeling projects they have going on it.

Here are some before pictures of the condo

I will post some "after" pictures after we get the place fixed up a bit. Here are some of the things we have done to the place so far:

  • Painted the laundry room a pale lavender color and painted the pantry doors with black chalk board paint
  • Painted the kitchen a sky blue color
  • Painted the living room butter yellow
  • Added some dry brushed pale blue tinted white to the painted fireplace to make it look more normal lol
  • Painted the master bedroom a bright, deep sky blue
  • Replaced the light switch plates in the bedroom with brushed silver ones
  • Put some white trim around the baseboards int he bedroom
  • Ripped out the railroad ties and crappy little bricks, and built a foot high decorative brick wall in the backyard and extended the garden area by about 1/3
  • Got a bunch of cool new stuff like rugs, curtains, and a picnic table and a new couch
Yay!!! So you guys should leave comments telling me what you have been up to!

Boardwalk!

by Stephanie
So here is my first post in a while. I am going to try to write on a more regular basis, which should be easier now that I have a more normal schedule.

Anyway! Danny and I had a great day yesterday. I got a TON of random important things done like:

  • Getting the lock smith to come replace the lock on the mailbox since we lost the only key we had to the thing. We now have THREE keys which is much better lol.
  • Once I got the mailbox opened then I could fill out all my application materials for culinary school and get those overnighted...which means....I am OFFICIALLY enrolled in culinary school!!!!! AWESOME!
  • Ordered some new checks with my NEW address.
  • Had Comcast come out AGAIN to try to fix the stupid cable. Hopefully it is ACTUALLY fixed this time!
  • Went to lunch.
At lunch I ordered a Diet Pepsi and Danny ordered a Pepsi. On the back of the can was a coupon for an unlimited ride bracelet to the Beach Boardwalk in Santa Cruz for only $10!!! Compared to $30

So we decided to drive out to Santa Cruz and go to the Boardwalk! We got there around 7 and didn't leave until 11pm. I had never been to the Boardwalk at night, and it was SO much more fun at night. They turn on all the lights on the rides and the place just looks amazing.

We stuffed ourselves with junk food (corn dogs and obscene amounts of cotton candy of course lol). We went on a ton of rides. We decided to save the log ride for the very last ride so we could just run to our car and turn on the heater to dry ourselves off.

It wasn't very busy so Danny and I got to ride in our own log. At first Danny was sitting in the very front and I was right behind him, so there were two empty seats behind us. Right as we were going up the ramp we realized that we were going to get SOAKED since all the weight was in the very front of the car. So at the top of the ride where you are just floating around before you get to the big drop we switched to the two back seats lol. I was just praying that we didnt end up tipping the whole stupid log over into the water when we did it.

Then we got to the big drop. I had my arms around Danny and I tucked my head down behind his back which meant I didn't get that wet. Danny on the other hand got SOAKED LOL.

We went down and took a look at the pictures they take of you when you go down the big drop. Our picture was SO funny. It is Danny sitting there getting soaked and all you can see of me is two arms wrapped around him holding onto his chest LOL. It was so funny I bought a copy of it. Once I get the scanner up and working I will post a picture of it for you guys to see.

So that's that of our fun and totally random trip to the boardwalk.
Hopefully next time I write I will post some pictures of the condo for you guys to see!

Yet another test post!

by Stephanie
I think I have posted more "test post" posts over the years than actual posts lol. Oh well, I like playing around with setting up blogs so I guess that is what happens. Anyway, I am in the process of setting this blog up again. I still love the template so I dont think I will change that. I just archived all my old posts so I can start fresh without having to totally redo my template. Anyway, I look forward to having time to actually start blogging again! Yay!
